Testing solutions across three sectors

EmerGO’s monitoring and treatment solutions are tested on real production lines across three sectors: meat, fruit juice and confectionery. Together, these environments represent over 60% of Europe’s processed food market, with the goal of cutting targeted pollutants by 40 to 80%.

Each pilot delivers validated methods and practical guidance, feeding EmerGO’s open tools and helping shape future European standards, so producers across the sector can put the results to use.

Fruit Juice

About the company
Cold PressOk produces cold-pressed fruit and vegetable juices, using high-pressure processing and PET bottling, under strict international food-safety standards.

The challenge
Juice production relies on water at every stage, from washing the fruit to cleaning the equipment. Affordable methods to monitor that water for emerging substances such as microplastics remain limited, especially for smaller producers.

What EmerGO does
Creates detection methods that are practical and affordable, together with treatment that recovers cleaning water for use. Because much of Europe’s food and drink sector is made up of small and medium-sized producers, the results will give the wider sector tools they can actually use.

Meat

About the company
Casademont produces cured pork and poultry products, with its own water supply, wastewater treatment and cleaning systems on site.

The challenge
Standardised methods for detecting emerging substances in industrial water are still under development across Europe. Meat manufacturers continue to explore new tools to understand water quality, optimise cleaning operations and move towards more circular, resource-efficient production.

What EmerGO does
Develops and validates real-time monitoring tools to improve the understanding of water quality and detect possible emerging substances under real industrial conditions, and demonstrates advanced treatment to assess their removal and management. The results will give the wider sector validated tools, methodologies and knowledge for more sustainable and circular water management.

Confectionery

About the company
Jotis produces baby food, dessert and cake mixes and other food preparations across its production lines in Greece.

The challenge
Producing food of this kind requires intensive and frequent cleaning. Current methods offer limited visibility of what happens inside a cleaning cycle while it runs, which makes it harder to optimise cleaning and use water efficiently while maintaining the highest hygiene standards.

What EmerGO does
Designs real-time monitoring that shows when cleaning is complete under real industrial conditions, so cycles can be optimised without compromising hygiene, together with treatment that recovers cleaning water and improves water management before discharge. The results support more efficient, sustainable production, achieved with less water and fewer chemicals.
